HowNow® Home Screen

Your Team's 'Start Your Day' Screen in HowNow®

The Home screen in HowNow® Knowledge Manager appears at startup and gives your team a quick and easy summary of what's going on in and around your organisation.

• News Items displays the user's My News list from HowNow®. This is an easy way to put your firm's news headlines right where team members will see them. News Items can be added in one step to everyone's News, or to selected Teams' News, or to selected team members' News.) Clicking on an item in the News Items window opens the relevant document in HowNow®.

• Your Recent Documents displays the user's My History list from HowNow®; those documents the user has recently used in HowNow®. Clicking an item opens that document in HowNow®.

• New HowNow® Documents displays documents that have been recently added to or modified in HowNow®. This is an easy way to keep team members up-to-date with your HowNow® Content changes. However, when a significant document is updated, adding it to News will make it even more prominent.

• Your Favourite Documents displays the user's own My Favourites list from HowNow®. Clicking an item opens that document in HowNow®.

• Birthdays and Anniversaries lists any team member who is approaching either their anniversary of joining the organisation, or their birthday. This means you won't miss any significant team member milestones.

• A Quick Team Contact List appears at the top of the screen, listing only telephone extensions and mobile phone numbers; those things staff need quickly when forwarding calls.

• Latest Headlines displays RSS feeds (live news headlines) from whichever web sites you choose. For example, your Home screen could display news headlines from a selection of the ABC News RSS feeds or from providers or regulatory bodies in your industry. Clicking on a headline opens your web browser and goes to the news story on the provider's web site.

Your Home Screen Updates Automatically

• All of the information displayed on your HowNow® Home screen comes directly out of your HowNow® database and from the RSS news feed. This means there is no additional work required to keep this Home screen up-to-date.

Customisable Home Screen

The HowNow® Home screen is an HTML web page. This means you can have it customised to match your organisation's web site and corporate identity. The logo, layout, and colours are all easily changed. (The screenshot above is a mock-up of the Home screen from a mythical 'ABC Company' example.)
